But the love with one man is not the same as that with another, thus neither is the wisdom with one the same as that with another, therefore neither the use; and because these three are homogeneous, as was shown above, n. 89 9, it follows, that such as the love with a man is, such is the wisdom with him, and such is the use. Here now it is to be demonstrated, that spiritual light flows in by these three degrees with man, but not spiritual h£at, except so far as man shuns evils as sins, and looks to the Lord; or, what is the same, that man can receive wisdom even to the third degree, but not love, unless he shuns evils as sins, and looks to the Lord; or, what is still the same, that the understanding of man can he elevated into wisdom, but not his will, except so far as he shuns evils as sins.
